The first inaugural summit by the Holomedicine Association that illustrates the breadth of innovation and digital expertise across healthcare with elements of augmented, mixed, and virtual reality applications.
This one day event will consist of two sessions featuring a range of industry and medical experts. Each session will present a keynote speaker, presentations by invited doctors, and expert panel discussions on relevant developments with a Q&A segment for participants to raise questions.

Dr. Giuseppe Umana
Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, Department of Neurology, trauma and gamma-knife center Cannizzaro, Hospital Catania, Italy
Giuseppe E. Umana completed medical education at Tor Vergata University in Rome, where he attended as a resident in neurosurgery. During the residency program, he promoted the study for a device for EVD placement that was protected with a patent. After the residency, he started to work at Neuromed IRCCS, Pozzilli, and he continued his education getting two university masters in approaches at the craniovertebral junction (Catholic University of Rome) and minimally invasive spine surgery (La Sapienza University of Rome). Then, Giuseppe E. Umana had the opportunity to come back to Tor Vergata University Hospital and to work as a consultant neurosurgeon. At the moment, he works at Cannizzaro Hospital in Catania, a trauma center and gamma-knife center. He is also finishing his PhD in Innovative technologies in disease of the skeleton, skin and oral-skeleton-facial district at La Sapienza University of Rome. Furthermore, he has recently become a fellow of the American College of Surgeons.

Dr. Cohen is Professor of Surgery, Pharmacology, and Biomedical Engineering and Vice Chair in Surgery at the University of Michigan, and Director of the Center for Surgical Innovation as well as Director for the Medical School Path of Excellence in Innovation and Entrepreneurship. He received his bachelors in Chemical Engineering and his Medical Doctorate degrees from Washington University in St. Louis and completed his general surgery residency as well as a NIH-sponsored fellowship in endocrine and oncologic surgery at Barnes-Jewish Hospital. In his other entrepreneurial roles, he has helped develop several educational programs in Innovation and Entrepreneurial Development for medical students, residents, and faculty as well as co-founding 5 start-up companies to improve the care of surgical patients. He has given over 100 invited talks both nationally and internationally, written and published 118 original scientific articles, 13 book chapters, as well as a textbook on “Success in Academic Surgery: Innovation and Entrepreneurship” published in 2019 by Springer-NATURE. He serves on several scientific journal editorial boards and has held several national leadership positions in surgical societies and is a founding member of the Holomedicine Association.
